Jill Kurtz began triathlon in 2002 as a hobby and a way to keep fit. But she put that hobby on hold when she had her son Ryan and daughter Madeline. In 2007, triathlons came back into the picture while maintaining balance between home life, being a full time nursing student and her passion for fitness. Jill decided it was time to take her hobby to a new level and joined Team 4. With Team 4 focused on women’s health and cancer awareness and prevention, Jill felt a connection to Team 4 as her mother-in-law is a uterine cancer survivor.
Both in her upcoming professional career as an RN and in her personal life, Jill feels that a healthy lifestyle is more than being physically active and eating right, it also encompasses balancing spiritual, mental and relationship aspects of life. Living a healthy lifestyle is a journey, not a destination.
In the spring of 2008, Jill began coaching with Professional Triathlete and Endurance Coach, Heather Haviland to train for her first half ironman. Jill exceeded her own expectations and goals with many accomplishments including a Top 10 finish in her first half ironman (Rockman Half Ironman). Later that year she qualified for the Boston Marathon during her first marathon (Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon). The 2009 season was equally as successful. In 2010, Jill will compete in her first full ironman, Ironman Wisconsin. She is excited to continue racing this year and finds training keeps her life balanced.
Jill graduated from University of Milwaukee with a degree in Finance and expects to complete her RN degree in 2012.
